Persephone
Persephone
Persephone from the series The Golden Trace of Atlantis reflects on the arrival of light and renewal after periods of darkness, drawing inspiration from the ancient myth of Persephone emerging from Hades’ kingdom to bring back spring. The work connects themes of blossoming youth and femininity with personal childhood memories of green onions growing on the artist’s grandmother’s windowsill, small symbols of hope and new beginnings in winter. Ukrainian-born figurative artist based in Surrey, working in oil painting and ink drawing across mural commissions, teaching and community projects.
