De Caires responds to the subjects of his drawings, made directly from the subjects, with an intense energy.
In his paintings this energy is transformed into gentler, more contemplative rhythms, through his paring down of form and colour.
The works are informed by of De Caire's awareness of the fragile balance of human intervention and the natural world.
Based in London, Frank de Caires draws on a life shaped by travel and cultural exchange – growing up between Guyana and England and working in social development in Africa and across South and South East Asia – from Afghanistan to Japan.
De Caires has exhibited at The Commonwealth Institute, Museum of Mankind, Issey Miyake gallery, , Regent’s Park Gallery and Anewal Gallery, Japan.
Alongside the exhibition, the artist will be giving a talk and leading workshops exploring creative practice. Details to follow @regentsparkgallery
