From Hampstead Heath to the City

Louise Balaam is a  member of the New English Art Club and of the Royal West of England Academy, exhibits widely and is in many private collections. 

The sensual material qualities of oil paint are important elements of Balaam's paintings which evoke space and light, in the English landscape tradition of Constable and Turner. 

Other  influences include Joan Eardley and Peter Lanyon, as well as American abstract expressionist artists Willem de Kooning and Joan Mitchell.
