Windowsill With Three Cacti And Two Ornaments

Representing the joy of drawing, this picture shows a small section of a familiar and everyday scene - that of the artist’s bedroom windowsill. Here, Jolley feels his way through the picture, adopting and experimenting with different lines, marks and techniques for depicting the various textures - be it of a wooden pig ornament, the smoothness of the window fitting itself or the myriad qualities of the cacti themselves.
