The first in a series painted in Leeds, continued from his time living with his parents after university — small, considered paintings of nearby windows and mundane architectural features. This one has a darker palette, less Fauve and more compliant with reality, marking a shift from wild colour towards a more naturalistic treatment of the same motif.
