Two Cameras, Yet To Be Developed
Two Cameras, Yet To Be Developed
Two Cameras depicts two disposable snapshot film cameras of different brands. They’re stacked atop one another, lending the painting a certain ‘Pop Art’ feel in the repetition of the central motif. Indeed, while based in the reality of the artist’s brightly-painted bedroom, the colours are reminiscent of trends in 1960s British art movements. As the title tells us, these cameras have not had their images developed. What moments and memories do they contain? Why have they not been developed? The painting both evokes the fun of holiday snaps and hints at a reluctance to reminisce.
