Something Over The Fence

The beginning of an investigation, this painting is at first glance, a paired back one. The painting is divided into horizontal planes - the sky and the fence. Between them, snugly packaged, is a mess of bush and plant life, and lurking amongst this mess is a quiet little house. It’s a sunny picture, bright and playful - but part of that playfulness are the potentially sinister undertones Jollety would go on to explore in a series of pictures about conformity, observation and the suburban landscape.
