Picture of a Foil Balloon Ghost

As with Two Cans, exhibited as part of The Gallery’s prior exhibition ‘Eye Feast’, here Jolley’s handling of surface and material is on full display. Skillfully, the taut and crinkled skin of the balloon is reproduced to great effect. In the background is a plug socket - a reminder that the balloon is on the floor and will soon deflate as well as iconography that treads a careful line between mundane and sinister.
