Daffodils

Delicate and lyrical in its simplicity, this drawings prefigures another picture in this exhibition - Dead Daffodils. We can see the same stems, living and strident before their eventual fate as depicted in the fully rendered painting. The picture is one of Jolley’s most confident and direct drawings and shows a controlled restraint.
