A Great Distance

A humble house plant on someone’s windowsill. The window itself, obscured by a fence and the outcrop of someone else’s garage. The wall all of this is situated in, lacking clarity due to the distance of the viewer. This small observational snapshot raises questions of surveillance and the ethics of observing, even when that observation is harmlessly done in service of making a painting.
