About Desmond Healy

Desmond Healy studied Fine Art at Newcastle University and the Royal College of Art. He is a painter-printmaker whose work concentrates on figures in the urban environment — Londoners from all cultures and homelands as they make their way through the metropolis. He also works with those moments of transformation when light fades and form begins to dissolve the visible landscape or observed still life.

In Desmond's own words: "The metamorphosis of the original idea through the unpredictable alchemy of etching is what constantly inspires me — like an image coming into sight in a developing tray, the process of drawing, biting and printing, with all of the magic of accident and chance that acid, ink and paper allow, is always a revelation."

At Eye Feast, Regent's Park Gallery is showing Desmond's limited-edition etching Tomato and a piece of bread — a brief detour into still life, drawn from a Paris grocery store and pulled at Thames-side Print Studio in an edition of 33.
