About Katie Tara Nicholls
My work draws inspiration from film, popular culture, and subject matter often dismissed as lowbrow or tasteless, but what I consider to be important cultural reference points.
I attempt to blend personal memories with iconic scenes from film, television and the paperback book covers my mother kept on our shelves in the eighties and nineties.
I hope my paintings create a playful yet evocative dialogue between nostalgia and artifice. Alongside my painting practice I have spent the past twelve years teaching art in schools and colleges across London and more recently, Sussex, sharing my passion for creativity with the next generation of artists.
In Eye Feast
Katie Tara Nicholls is showing one work in Eye Feast: Agadu.
Agadu. A fond and nostalgic reflection on the parties my grandparents used to throw in the 80s and 90s - evenings of glamour conjured up on a shoestring budget.
Eye Feast runs until 27th June 2026 at Regent's Park Gallery, 17 Princess Road, London NW1 8JR
